We're stoked to share an epic Lake Tahoe bikepacking adventure through the lens of Simon Pocock.
'We rolled into Truckee around 9pm. Dusk was turning to night, but we reached our destination just in time, without needing any lights. That was the goal for the final stretch of the trip. Archie and I hadn't ridden together in years, so this adventure was like a reunion, a tribute to past rides, and a chance to discover his new home.
After a day of riding—and some loitering—we pushed through 100km of bike paths and main roads to make it home before dark.
It was the third and final day of our lap around Lake Tahoe, California. Our mission: to ride as much off-road as possible, tackling singletrack and fire roads. The first two days took us along the magical Tahoe Rim and Flume Trails.
Camping high up, braving the heat, navigating technical sections, and enjoying flowing descents.
We wound our way through the Sierras, passing through towns, and stopping for bagels, tacos, and burgers. We were in America, after all.'
