When you ride a bicycle regularly, there’s a good chance that at some point life is going to throw a spanner in the works.
Depending on the type of bicycle you ride and what goes wrong, getting back on the saddle could cost you a couple of dollars and an hour or two at the bike shop. That’s if you’re lucky.
In the worst-case scenario, it could cost you thousands of dollars that you might not have on hand if that day comes. That’s exactly what bicycle insurance is for.
When it comes to insurance, we know that there’s nothing more important than a quick and easy claims process. After all, the reason you have insurance in the first place is for the peace of mind that comes with knowing your bicycle is covered in the event of theft or accidental damage.
We work hard to make claiming as easy as possible for our customers. If you need to make a claim, just follow the simple steps below and we’ll have you back on the saddle in no time.
Submit a claim anytime, anywhere with Sundays Insurance.
If something happens to your beloved bicycle, you might be unsure whether or not to make a claim. Sometimes the answer is straightforward - for example, if your bike was stolen - but if your bicycle was damaged, you may be wondering whether you should claim from Sundays Insurance or pay for the repairs yourself.
In the event of accidental damage, if the cost to repair exceeds the policy deductible, you have a potential claim.
Once you’ve decided you want to make a claim, here’s what you’ll need to do to help move the process along as quickly as possible:
We may also ask you to provide information like your bicycle’s purchase receipt, photos of the damage to your bicycle, photos of the incident area, and/or proof that you complied with the security conditions of your policy.
As you go through the claims process, we’ll let you know exactly what we need from you and give you time to supply the required information - so if you don’t have all of it at the time of making the claim, no stress. We’ll talk you through it step-by-step so we can get you back on the saddle as quickly as possible.
We know that incidents don’t only happen during business hours, so we let you submit a claim 24/7 through our online form, which you can find here.
If you would prefer to talk directly with one of our friendly consultants, you can also choose to call us on (805) 448-6558 or email us at [email protected].
We’ll keep you in the loop throughout the claims process, so you’ll never have to find yourself wondering what happens next.
We're committed to getting you back on the saddle as fast as possible.
If your claim is valid, your bicycle will either be repaired or replaced, or we will pay you the reasonable cost of replacing or repairing the bicycle or item yourself. Unlike most homeowners or renters insurance policies, we will not increase your premiums after a claim.
If you have worldwide or racing coverage, we’ll reimburse you up to $300 to rent a bicycle (provided the covered loss occurs seven days or less before you participate in a cycling race or event, or travel with your bicycle) while we sort out your claim.
If we repair or replace the lost/damaged item, we prefer to work with your local bike shop, but we retain the right to choose a repairer if, for example, the bike shop does not have the necessary stock or expertise to carry out a specific assessment. In such a case, we’ll make use of an assessor of our own choosing.
If we pay you the reasonable cost of replacing or repairing the bicycle or item yourself, your claim settlement amount will be calculated based on the age of your bike and whether you have selected lifetime new for old coverage:
If you took out a policy with us for a new bike less than 60 days old, and you selected our lifetime new for old option, we will always replace your bike with a new bike of similar quality and capability or new parts in the event of a repair, no matter how old your bike is at the time of the claim. We will pay the lesser of:
If you bought the bicycle new and it is less than two years old at the time of the claim, we will pay the lesser of:
If you bought your bicycle new, did not select lifetime new for old and it is more than two years old or it was purchased second-hand or used, we will pay you the lesser of:
The above applies to total loss claims and partial loss claims.
