Out-of-home coverage

Out-of-home coverage

Homeowners & renters insurance is designed to do what the name says - cover the standard contents of your home, in your home.

While it may provide partial coverage for items taken out of the home, homeowners & renters insurance is unlikely to cover your commuter bike for theft away from home, if you crash while riding, or damage or loss while in transit.

We cover your commuter bike while it’s locked at home, out on the town, for damage while you’re riding, in-transit in the US, and even worldwide if you activate this optional coverage.

Frequently asked questions

Why should I use Sundays Insurance if my commuter bike is covered under my homeowners or renters insurance?

While your homeowners & renters insurance may provide some coverage for your commuter bike, there might be limitations to the value and it’s unlikely to comprehensively cover many of the situations unique to cycling.

Sundays Insurance ensures you can handpick the coverage that’s right for you, and enjoy benefits unique to cycling and related situations you may find yourself in.

You can also enjoy optional benefits unique to specialist cycling insurance such as worldwide coverage, and coverage for your accessories and wheelsets.

Will my commuter bike still be covered if I use it to race or participate in organized events?

Certainly! If your speedy commute occasionally turns into impromptu races over the weekend, consider adding optional racing coverage to your commuter bike insurance policy. This addition ensures that your bike is protected during races or organized cycling events.

Is my commuter bike covered while travelling?

Yes. With Sundays Insurance, domestic coverage is a standard part of your commuter bike insurance policy. We can cover your bicycle for loss or damage in transit anywhere in the US.

If you're planning to take your commuter bike on an international trip, you have the option to include additional worldwide coverage on your policy. This way, you can travel the globe with confidence for a duration of up to 90 days.

If you already have your travel plans sorted when you go through the process of purchasing Sundays Insurance online, then you can add worldwide coverage during the process. But if your plans come together at a later date, get in touch with our friendly team of consultants when your plans are finalized and they’ll get you covered.

Can I choose to get optional coverage for just some of the time my insurance is active?

Our insurance plans typically run for one year, and you have the choice of paying either monthly or annually. Our plans offer flexibility, allowing you to adjust your coverage as needed. For example, you can add racing coverage during the racing season and remove it when the season is over.
